Chunky Hat
This pattern creates a simple chunky hat with 2x2 ribbing on the rim and stockinette stitch on the body. The pattern is written to suit an average head but sizing can be adjusted by changing the amount of stitches cast on.

Sizing
The pattern is written to fit an average adult head, sized around 20 to 24" due to stretch in the yarn. The pattern can be adjusted to fit smaller or larger heads by altering the number of stitches cast on.

Abbreviations
K1 = Knit 1 stitch
P1 = Purl 1 stitch
K2tog = Knit two stitches together
K2tog = Knit two stitches together
2x2 Ribbing Rim
Cast on 56 stitches using your preferred cast-on method. Join in the round and mark the round with a stitch marker.
K2 P2 to create a 2x2 rib for 4" (if doing a folded rim, like pictured) or 2" (if doing a flat rim) from cast-on edge.
Main Body
Knit all stitches until 9" from cast on edge.
Decrease
Work the decrease as follows, knitting all the even-numbered rows and switching to DPN's or magic loop when needed:
Row 1.
*K3, k2tog; repeat from * until end of the row[48]
Row 2.
Knit all even-numbered rows
Row 3.
*K2, k2tog; repeat from * [36]
Row 5.
*K1, k2tog; repeat from * [24]
Row 7.
K2tog for whole round [12]
Row 9.
k2tog for whole round [6]
Cut yarn and weave leftover yarn through the remaining live stitches. Pull tightly to close the hole.
