Diamond Scarf

This pattern creates a beautiful scarf with an intricate diamond effect covering the scarf! The scarf is created using the 8-row Seersucker Stitch repeating pattern, with ribbing on each edge. The pattern is written in such a way that it can be created to any desired length. The pattern can be adjusted to be wider by altering the cast on amount as long as the cast on is a multiple of 4 plus 1.

K1tbl = Knit 1 stitch through the back loop

Starting

To begin the hat, cast on 29 stitches using your preferred cast on method.

If you wish to make the scarf a different width you can adjust the cast on amount as long as it remains a multiple of 4 plus 1

Rows 1 to 8: Twisted ribbing

See the tutorial for twisted ribbing here

Main Body

To create the aesthetic of diamonds use seersucker stitch for the body of the scarf. This is created using an 8 row repeat:

1. (RS) *K2, P1, K1*, K1
2. P1, *P1, K1, P2*
3. *K1, P1*, K1
4. P1, *K1, P1*
5. *P1, K3*, P1
6. K1, *P3, K1*
7. *K1, P1*, K1
8. P1, *K1, P1*

Continue this 8 row repeat until desired length is reached, suggested 36" (child) or 70" (adult).
Finish last two rows by knitting rows 1 and 2.

Finishing

Repeat twisted ribbing.

Weave in ends and create tassels from scrap yarn if desired and enjoy wearing your beautiful eye catching scarf!
